Open Your Heart, Open Your Home — Become a Foster
The Humane Society of Bay County is a foster-based animal rescue, which means we don’t operate a traditional shelter. Instead, we rely on a network of compassionate volunteers to provide temporary homes for cats and dogs while they wait for adoption. By becoming a foster, you’re offering an animal a safe, nurturing space to recover, learn, and feel loved—often for the first time.
Why Fostering Matters
When you foster a pet, you’re directly saving lives. Every foster home opens space for us to rescue another animal in need. Fostering also helps animals adjust to home life, receive one-on-one attention, and develop the social and behavioral skills needed to succeed in their adoptive homes.
What are the beneits of fostering a pet?
- You provide a safe, loving environment for animals in transition
- You help reduce overcrowding in shelters and rescues
- You get to enjoy the companionship of a pet without the lifetime commitment
- You’ll play a vital role in helping a pet become adoption-ready
HSBC provides all basic supplies and veterinary care
Whether you’re fostering a litter of kittens, a senior dog, or a shy cat who needs extra TLC, your care helps animals heal, trust, and thrive
