Your Legacy Lives On

Your gift will help save lives of animals in Bay County. It will provide opportunities for the future of the Humane Society to maintain and expand programs that are caring for our animals. Charitable giving by individuals and businesses contributes to a large portion of our annual budget.

Consider a legacy or memorial gift to the Humane Society of Bay County—It’s easy and smart!
Legacy or memorial gifts can be made at any time or by naming The Humane Society in your will or as the beneficiary of an insurance policy, mutual fund, or retirement account.

*Beneficiary Designations name the Humane Society of Bay County in your will, creating a  legacy to help us  fulfill our mission for years to come.  You can name us as a beneficiary of your IRA, 401k, life insurance, annuity  contracts  or Transfer on Death accounts (also known as “payable on death”). Distributions to charities from an IRA or 401k are passed tax-free,    unlike to non-charitable beneficiaries, who will be subject to federal income  taxes.  You can name the Humane      Society of Bay County(TIN: 38-2556864) as the sole beneficiary of your account, or you can allocate a specific percentage.   Simply request a Beneficiary Designation Form from the institution administering your  account.

*Required Minimum Distributions (RMD) from your IRA can now be made directly to the Humane Society of Bay County if you are older than 70 ½.  Making a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) from an IRA directly to a qualified charitable organization allows IRA owners to exclude up to $100,000 annually from their gross income.  Simply instruct your IRA trustee to make a distribution directly from your IRA to the Humane Society of Bay County.  (TIN: 38-2556864)

*A Charitable Bequest is a distribution from your estate (via your Last Will and Testament or Trust Agreement) to support the mission of the Humane Society of Bay County for years to come.  The bequest can be a stated amount, a percentage of your estate, or a residual amount after other expenses have been deducted.  An attorney can help you draft the appropriate document to insure your legacy desires are met.
